Step two - applications for success
Step two is the application process – it’s where you get an opportunity to convince recruiters why you should be offered an interview. Try and dedicate some time to put your application together – it will be time well spent.
There are three main ways to apply for an ACA training vacancy: employer application form, online application and sending in your CV. Whichever way you apply, we recommend that you consider the following:
- Take time to understand the employer’s application procedure, research the job and the organisation - and don’t forget to check when you need to submit your application.
- Tailor your application or CV to each job you apply for – this makes it easier for the recruiter to see how you meet their requirements. Try not to give standard answers – make them relevant and answer fully but concisely. Above all let your personality shine through!
- Make a rough draft of your application or CV before you finalise it. If you’re completing an application on-line don’t rush through it – you can save it and return with fresh eyes before you hit the send button.
- Spelling and grammar – employers are increasingly concerned about the amount of applications they receive with simple errors in spelling and grammar – don’t make yours one of them! Use the spell check on your PC, or get a friend to proof read your application – sometimes other people can spot mistakes you miss.
